The mission of renovateSTL.com is to promote neighborhood revitalization through the renovation and restoration of St. Louis' unique building stock. It is my goal to provide clear, concise information specifically oriented towards people who are in-process, or looking to renovate a building in the City of St. Louis. I hope to inform, educate, inspire, and support people in all phases of renovation from purchasing property to occupancy and maintenance.
Unless otherwise noted on an individual page or section, all text on this site was written by Steve Wilke-Shapiro. After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis' dual Masters of Architecture Social Work program in 2000, I worked as a Project Designer at Pyramid Architects. While there, I was lead designer on over 30 renovation projects. However, eventually the company shifted focus away from historic residential renovation and towards projects I was not interested in working on.
After a two-year stint working for a firm that focused on senior housing, I am now a Project Manager at Fendler and Associates.
